Welcome to
QUE PASO PANAMA
Taking You on a Journey Back in Time!

This site was created to preserve and share the cherished memories of growing up in the Panama Canal Zone.
It is an ongoing project that began in 2016, with plans to continuously add more content over time. The site is organized into sections, each filled with photos, videos, and audio clips that will transport you back to the moments and experiences of your past, evoking the wonderful memories of life in Panama.

Dedicated to all the memories Zonians grew up with during the 70's, 80's, and the 90's in Panama.
This site is a collaboration of Saj Awan (class of 1990) and Jon Lavallee (class of 1992).

We have gathered and preserved many memories from our past to share with all of you. Now that we are older, we find ourselves longing for those cherished memories of growing up in the tropical country of Panama.

If you're wondering what "Que Paso" means, here's a bit of history: There used to be a show on SCN (Southern Command Network) television called Que Pasa. It was a program focused on the cultural happenings and entertainment of the moment, for those living on base and in the townsites of the isthmus. The show featured the iconic Peacock Chairs.... remember how popular they were back in the day?

"Que Paso" takes the same idea but focuses on showcasing the sights and sounds of the things you remember from that time. It's a site designed to organize and archive those memories all in one place.

We’ll also be sharing the content from our site on various CZ Facebook groups. If you have cool content to contribute, feel free to submit it to us, and we'll add it to the website for archiving. We're particularly looking for SCN TV recordings, commercials, community bulletins, TV specials, news broadcasts, content from the Spanish channels and PCC and base telephone books. Also looking for scans from the SCN News newspaper which are not archived anywhere and also early Tropic Times newspaper issues not archived yet.
Also focused on finding cool photos and videos focused from the 70's through the 90's.
While many of the photos and videos on this site were found across the internet, we also feature exclusive content that can only be found here. Enjoy!
